The Minister for Racing has announced that Tasracing has brought forward a proposed code funding increase by 6 months to 1 January, 2022. The decision to increase funding by 4.3% was taken given the strong financial performance in the 2020/21 financial year.

Future Gaming Market reforms officially pass Parliament (TAS)

Tasmania's Gaming Control Amendment (Future Gaming Market) Bill has passed through both Houses of Parliament today.

The Bill legislates that work be undertaken and implemented by the Tasmanian Liquor and Gaming Commission as soon as practicable.

Inaugural Chair For New Gambling And Casino Regulator (VIC)

The Andrews Labor Government has appointed Fran Thorn as the inaugural chair of the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC).

Ms. Thorn will help establish the new regulator and its role with her appointment for three years from 1 January 2022.

ACMA moves to block illegal online lottery services

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) will today request Australian internet service providers (ISPs) block illegal offshore lottery websites We Love Lotto and Red Fox Lotto.  Investigations found they offer tickets in overseas lotteries & are not licensed in Australia.

Terms of reference for racing review released (TAS)

Tasmanian Minister for Racing, Jane Howlett, has announced a review of the a review of the Racing Regulation Act 2004 (Tas).  Mr Dale Monteith has been appointed as an independent expert to undertake the review.
