The NSW Government has taken steps to secure the long term future of greyhound racing in NSW, announcing $25 million in additional infrastructure funding and a new funding model that will see the regulator fully-funded by the NSW Government.

Royal Commission into Crown Melbourne Extended (VIC)

The Victorian Government has granted a request from the Royal Commission into the Casino Operator and Licence to allow additional time and funding to complete its inquiry.  The Royal Commission will now report on 15 October 2021.

New Faces for Greyhound Racing Victoria

The body overseeing greyhound racing in Victoria has been strengthened with two new board appointments.  Victorian Minister for Racing, Martin Pakula, has announced the appointments of Bill Buccilli and Daniel Nugent to the board of Greyhound Racing Victoria.

Government Establishes Advisory Council for ACT Community Clubs

The ACT Government has established a new advisory council for the clubs sector in the ACT.   The council, to be chaired by the Minister for Gaming Shane Rattenbury, is comprised of representatives from community clubs, organisations working to reduce gambling harm, and other stakeholders.

First Trial of Cashless Gaming Technology (NSW)

Liquor and Gaming NSW has received the first trial proposal for the use of cashless gaming machines at a venue in NSW.  The trial, led by Aristocrat Gaming and Wests Newcastle will see cashless payments for all club services including EGMs.

Strong take-up of facial recognition technology in gaming venues (SA)

More than 230 gambling venues in South Australia have installed Facial Recognition Technology, as part of moves aimed at tackling gambling-related harm in South Australia. This follows on from the commencement of sweeping gambling reforms in December last year.

People sharing their stories with problem gambling will make up a new gambling harm awareness campaign launched by the Palaszczuk Government. The new gambling harm awareness campaign uses storytelling to break down the stigma associated with seeking help for problem gambling.
