The ACT Council of Social Service (ACTCOSS) has made a submission to the Australian Federal Parliament calling on all parties to act to protect Australians from gambling harm by restricting the use of credit cards for online gambling.

Multicultural Gambling Harm Prevention Services (MGHPS) aims to provide confidential, in-language counselling support that is informed by culture.

The Andrews Government is investing in research to examine the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the gambling environment, & the implications for associated behaviours & harm. The VRGF will provide $600,000 to support research into the theme ‘Gambling in Victoria in 2020 - COVID-19 & beyond’.

The Royal Commission into the Casino Operator and Licence has opened its public submission process, inviting community members and organisations to contribute their views, ideas and experiences to inform the Royal Commission’s work. Submissions will be accepted until 4.00pm on 26 April 2021.

December 2020 shows record high spending at pokie machines (NZ)

The latest quarterly statistics have been published by the Dept of Internal Affairs. Overall, 2020 saw 13.6% decrease in yearly Gaming Machine Profits, equalling around NZ$128m. Venues & machines have fallen consistently since 2015, some of which may be attributable to 2020’s COVID-19 restrictions.

GambleAware has launched the second part of its ‘Tap Out’ safer gambling campaign. With the line ‘Tap out. Take a moment. Avoid Bet Regret’, the campaign provides bettors with a mental aid to help cut out impulsive bets, helping them to pause & think before place a bet.
