Statement from the Premier on Stage One Shutdowns (VIC)

The businesses that will close due to the Stage 1 shutdown include pubs, clubs, nightclubs, Crown Casino, and licensed venues in hotels and pubs. It also includes gyms, indoor sporting venues, places of worship, cinemas and entertainment venues.

Public Health (COVID-19 Places of Social Gathering) Order 2020 (NSW)

NSW has issued an order to deal with the public health risk of COVID-19 and its possible consequences by giving a Ministerial direction that provides that certain non-essential venues be closed to members of the public except in limited circumstances.

Indoor public gatherings of more than 100 people will be banned under changes made to the State of Emergency by the Victorian Government and restrictions will be placed on aged care facilities in Victoria, following agreement by the National Cabinet.

Hotel Sector Restrictions: AHA (NAT)

The AHA will work with Federal & State Governments following the imposition of a 100 person limit on all venues. AHA CEO Stephen Ferguson said the new restrictions will have a huge social impact. The Association was seeking clarification on the exact details as to how the change will work.

New Ministerial Direction regarding Responsible Gambling Codes of Conduct (VIC)

Venue operators have six months to amend their Responsible Gambling Codes of Conduct (RGCC) to comply with a new Ministerial Direction.  The new Ministerial Direction outlines changes to the content that must be included in RGCC implemented by venue operators. It comes into effect on 1 March 2020.

UK National Audit Office has released a report into gambling regulation (UK)

The UK NAO has released a report,  "Gambling regulation: problem gambling and protecting vulnerable people". The report examines the extent to which gambling regulation effectively and proportionately protects people from gambling-related harms.
