The McGowan Government introduced a Bill into State Parliament on the 15th May, 2019 that will enable the sale of the Western Australian TAB. The Bill includes a reform package for the WA racing industry.

The New Zealand Racing Minister, Winston Peters, has announced a repeal of the racing totaliser betting levy currently paid by the racing industry to the NZ Government.

The Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation is running a new campaign "Think...is that true for you?" The campaign encourages consumers to pause and reflect on whether there is a connection between the stress they may be feeling and their gambling.

More South Australians rolling the dice online

A State Government report surveying the gambling behaviours of more than 20,000 South Australians has found the number of people betting online has almost tripled to 13% in the past year. The 2018 Gambling Prevalence Survey, reports that this is a rise from 5% since the last survey in 2012.

New code for responsible gambling advertising (NZ)

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has released a new Gambling Advertising Code following a review of the Code for Advertising Gaming and Gambling.  The new code will be effective from 5 August 2019 for new gambling ads and from 4 November all gambling ads will need to comply.

Gambling Commission publishes important new framework for measuring gambling harms among children and young people (UK)

The UKGC has launched a new framework for measuring gambling harms among children and young people, as part of its National Strategy to Reduce Gambling Harms. It's designed to help guide research and action to better understand and reduce gambling harms in children and young adults.

Bethany Community Support has a new project - "A Young Person's Message' to teach students about the risks associated with gambling. Chief Executive of the VRGF, Shane Lucas, said the foundation had been delighted to support this project with a Prevention Partnership Program grant.

Ontario gambling group loses funding from Ministry of Health (Canada)

The GREO (Gambling Research Exchange Ontario) has had its funding cut and has been advised to wind down operations immediately.  The independent organization was formed to eliminate harm from gambling.

GambleAware has Launched "No Bet Inn" in Liverpool as part of Bet Regret campaign. The Bet Regret campaign aims to give support for the young men aged 16-34 who gamble regularly.
