ALH Group ordered to pay $550,000 fine for failures to minimise gambling harm

The Australian Leisure and Hospitality Group (ALH) has been fined $550,000 for operating 220 gaming machines without mandatory pre-commitment technology (YourPlay) installed, following a prosecution by the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC).

Tabcorp fined $1 million for not complying with VGCCC directions

The Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC) has fined Tabcorp Wagering (VIC) Pty Ltd $1 million for not complying with two Commission directions issued during its investigation of Tabcorp’s major system outage in the 2020 Spring Racing Carnival.

The VGCCC has warned that sporting clubs need to be mindful of community expectations around incentivising members to gamble, advising that some online wagering providers are entering into sponsorship agreements with sporting clubs - linking financial incentives to club members signing up.

More illegal offshore gambling websites blocked (ACMA)

Australian internet service providers (ISPs) have been requested to block access to more illegal offshore gambling websites including Crown Pokies and Play AUD. Last month, the ACMA requested that ISPs block 5 services – Reef Reels, Royal Reels, Ricky Casino, Slots Gallery, and Slotastic.

Appointment of Independent Monitor of SkyCity Adelaide (SA)

The Liquor and Gambling Commissioner, Dini Soulio, has approved the appointment of consultancy firm, Kroll Australia Ltd, as the Independent Monitor to monitor the compliance of SkyCity Adelaide, the operator of the Adelaide Casino, following a direction issued in May.
