In 2019 SkyCity launched Project Nikau, a youth employment program, which aims to provide opportunities to unskilled, unemployed young people from disadvantaged backgrounds within each of the communities within which it operates.  

Working in collaboration with government and community organisations, the Project Nikau program is designed to develop work ready skills and provide mentoring support for each participant, with individualised learning and development outcomes.

To date 50 young people have participated in the program, offering employment, training and a career path at SkyCity. 

In 2020, the SkyCity Entertainment Group was named the winner of the 2020 Deloitte Top 200 award for Diversity and Inclusion Leadership for Project Nikau.
