Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation-funded CQUniversity research led by Professor Matthew Rockloff has suggested that there may be a role for legislative intervention to play in preventing harm from electronic gaming machine/pokies-themed apps.

Two new studies conducted by CQUniversity presented at the VRGF Gambling Harm Conference 2018 have found that betting operators use direct marketing channels, like SMS, to advertise inducements that encourage more frequent gambling and with larger amounts of money.

The VRGF is holding its annual Love the Game round. During 20-22 July, elite and community sporting clubs will unite to remind kids that sport and betting don't have to go together and suggest to parents that they talk with their kids about gambling, particularly the risks they face.
