Revised draft online gambling ad rules released for comment (NAT)

Amended restrictions aimed at protecting Australian children from gambling promotional content during live sport that is streamed online have been proposed by ACMA. The proposed restrictions require a 'safe zone' during times when children are more likely to be a part of the audience.

State Government moves to protect racing jobs (SA)

The State Government has announced it will provide $4.85 million to SA's racing industry to protect local jobs and help offset losses incurred as a result of the betting operations tax. SA was the first state to introduce the tax on bets made by SA racing and sports fans.

Tackling gambling harm in regional and rural Victoria (VIC)

Victoria is investing almost $250,000 in programs to prevent and reduce gambling harm in regional and rural Victoria. Five new projects are focused on helping young Victorians and Aboriginal and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities.

Increased support for Responsible Gambling Fund (NSW)

Initiatives to prevent and reduce problem gambling will be boosted by a $25 million investment in the NSW Budget 2018. This will include $14 million for Gambling Help Services including phone, online and 55 face-to-face counselling services in more than 250 locations across NSW.
