The Minister for Racing and Gaming and the Treasurer say the detailed analysis of the TAB conducted by Treasury and its commercial advisor, Investec has been finalised. It provides options for how a transaction could be structured to ensure it is in the best interests of both State and industry.

Local community caps on gaming machines (NSW)

The NSW Government will cap the number of gaming machines in communities, as part of reforms including an overhaul of the Local Impact Assessment (LIA) scheme that regulates gaming machine movements to deliver more transparency, community consultation and greater certainty for industry.

The Problem Gambling Support Services Committee has launched a major advertising campaign to encourage people affected by problem gambling to access free and confidential counselling services.  The 'Show Gambling Who's Boss' campaign is funded by the PGSSC.

Melbourne Cup Carnival Keeps Victoria Ahead of the Pack (VIC)

Minister for Tourism and Major Events John Eren has hailed the results of the 2017 Melbourne Cup Carnival economic impact study, released  by the Victoria Racing Club noting that the Melbourne Cup Carnival delivered record visitor numbers and an economic windfall to Victoria.

Nine experts in public health, law, government, business and social research will advise the NSW Government on RG. The Responsible Gambling Fund Trust will play a key role in helping the Government develop evidence-based and innovative approaches to prevent and reduce gambling harms.

Gambling, EGM expenditure down according to latest independent study (TAS)

The Tasmanian Treasurer has said gambling in Tasmania has continued to decline. "The SEIS study finds that overall participation in gambling in Tasmania has declined from 61.2 per cent in 2013 (SEIS3) to 58.5 per cent in 2017." The full report is available at www.treasury.tas.gov.au.

Release of Fourth Social and Economic Impact Study in Tasmania (TAS)

The fourth impact of gambling in Tasmania study was released January 2018, undertaken by a  consortium comprising by ACIL Allen Consulting, Deakin University, Central Queensland and the Social Research Centre.
