New Lotterywest and Healthway chairperson appointed (WA)

Premier Mark McGowan and Health Minister Roger Cook have welcomed the appointment of new Lotterywest and Healthway chairperson, Professor Peter Klinken AC.  Professor Klinken will assume his role as chairperson this week for a three-year term.

Certainty for the WA racing industry with historic reform package (WA)

Following consultation with the racing industry and other stakeholders, the State Government will move forward with the sale of the WA TAB. A 15% 'point of consumption tax' will also be introduced. The streamlined wagering tax system will be in place by January 1, 2019.

Racing infrastructure, and key community programs like the gambling help line, emergency helicopter services and kids' sports will benefit from funding from revenue generated by changes to taxes on large betting operators. Additional Point of Consumption revenue would be used.

McGowan government delivers on promise to ban synthetic lotteries (WA)

The Gaming and Wagering Legislation Amendment Bill 2018 will expand the powers of the Gaming and Wagering Commission to stop products such as Lottoland, which offer betting on the outcome of domestic and overseas lottery draws, from entering the market.
