Support for mental health and gambling harm program (VIC)

The Victorian government has announced that Alfred Health's Mental Health and Gambling Program will receive a $1.2 million funding boost over three years from the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation.  The funding will allow Alfred Health to continue to deliver & expand its services.

The Government has announced that it is expanding its Libraries After Dark program which provides extended opening hours to offer a range social, cultural and recreational activities as alternatives to gambling.

Lottery ticket sellers boosted by increased commissions (VIC)

The Andrews Government has made changes to the way lottery tickets are sold. Around 750 news and lottery agents will now receive increased commission rates through digital ticket sales. Tabcorp's new strategy aims to reward distributors for their role in the conduct of public lotteries.

Gambling Commission introduces new rules to make gambling fairer and safer (UK)

New rules will strengthen requirements on how licensees identify and interact with customers who may be at risk of, or experiencing, gambling harms. The rules come into effect 31 Oct, 2019. The rules on how operators contribute to research, prevention and treatment come into effect on 1 Jan, 2020.

New Zealand launches consultation on igaming regulation

The New Zealand government has launched a public consultation to gauge public support for regulating new forms of online gambling. It is also looking for views on measures to minimise gambling harms. The public and industry stakeholders are asked to share their thoughts by September 30, 2019.

WA wins with Lotterywest record return to the community (WA)

The WA State government has announced that record Lotterywest sales for the 2018/19 financial year will result in a 15% increase to statutory grants for health, sport and arts programs. This follows Government's new laws banning online lottery betting organisations that aim to minimise harm.

The Australian National University (ANU) has announced a new study that will explore appropriate support and help for partners or family members of those that may be affected by their gambling.  The study is currently looking for participants from across the ACT and NSW.

Community grants on offer in latest funding round (QLD)

Community organisations can apply for funding of up to $35,000 under the latest round of Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF) grants which is now open.  This funding allows community groups to purchase equipment, upgrade facilities, host events, and deliver services to diverse sectors.
